The new platform is expected to increase controls, transparency and tax compliance in the road traffic sector. The G.G.P.S. activates for the first time a new digital vehicle system, which will identify:
- uninsured vehicles,
- vehicles without a valid MOT,
- as well as those with unpaid traffic fees.
Through automatic real-time checkpoints, the competent services will be able to immediately identify violations and impose the prescribed fines without delay.
Already, from checkpoints of the AADE, approximately 700,000 vehicles without MOT, 243,904 without insurance and 113,382 without paid traffic fees have been identified.
The fines expected to be imposed on those who violate the law are:
- For uninsured vehicles: from €250 to 1,000€,
- For unpaid traffic fees: a fine equal to the annual fees, plus the amount due,
- For failure to carry out a MOT: 3,400€.
In case of non-compliance, the fines will be doubled, while the removal of plates and registration license is also foreseen.
